Two pages from one sheet, on your computer

Split a PDF page in half

No files yet. Drop them above. They stay on your computer.

Split in half cuts every page down the middle, or across the middle, and saves each half as its own page. Use it when a scanner grabbed an open book as one landscape sheet, or when two slides landed on one page. LoveThisPDF copies the page in this browser and tightens the crop box. The words stay selectable. The file is not turned into a picture.

Choose left and right, or top and bottom. Landscape only leaves portrait pages alone, so a cover can stay in front of the spreads. Right or bottom first flips the order, which some book scans need. Unlock password-protected files on your computer first. The PDF you dropped stays on disk. Close the tab and the working files are gone.

They stay on your computer. Nothing is uploaded.

How to split a PDF page in half

  1. Drop one PDF. It is read in this tab, never uploaded.
  2. Choose left and right, or top and bottom.
  3. Pick which half comes first, and whether to cut every page or only landscape or portrait pages.
  4. Split in half and download. The file you dropped stays on disk.

Split a scanned spread without uploading

Most “split pdf page in half” sites take the file and process it on a server. This page copies the pages in JavaScript and crops each half. There is no account and no queue. If it fails, the file never sat on someone else’s disk.

Need to trim a margin instead of cutting the page in two? Use Crop PDF.

Questions

Can I split a PDF page in half without uploading it?

Yes. LoveThisPDF copies the pages in this tab and writes a new file on your device. Nothing is sent to a server.

Will the text stay selectable?

Yes. Each half is the same page with a tighter crop, not a photo of the page. A scan that was already a picture stays a picture.

What if only some pages are two-up?

Choose Landscape only. Portrait pages, such as a cover, are copied whole. Portrait only does the reverse.

Can I put the right-hand page first?

Yes. Set the first half to Right or bottom. That order suits some book scans.

Will this change my original PDF?

No. You download a new file. The PDF you dropped stays on disk.
