Crop a PDF

No files yet. Drop them above. They stay on your computer.

Crop PDF changes CropBox and MediaBox so viewers show less of each page: scanner edges, a square crop, or a custom rectangle. Apply the same crop to every page, or only the pages you tick. Drag the box on the preview or type margins in millimetres and points. pdf-lib writes a new file in this tab.

The original on disk is not rewritten. Password-protected PDFs still need unlocking first. Close the tab and the working files disappear from the app.

They stay on your computer. Nothing is uploaded.

How to crop a PDF in your browser

  1. Drop one PDF. A preview of the current page is drawn locally.
  2. Drag a crop rectangle, or use scanner-margin / square presets.
  3. Apply the same crop to all pages, or only a selection.
  4. Crop PDF and download. Nothing was uploaded.

Crop PDF without an online editor

Web croppers that upload see the whole scan. This page never gets the file. You also will not get content-aware trim. You get honest page boxes.

Questions

Does crop delete the pixels outside the box?

It sets CropBox and MediaBox so typical viewers hide that area. A determined editor might still recover uncropped content. Redact if the overflow is secret.

Can I crop each page differently?

This page applies one rectangle to all chosen pages. For mixed sizes, crop a selection, download, then crop again.

What is the scanner margin preset?

About 8 mm in from each edge, a common ADF leftover. Adjust if your feeder is worse.

Will crop overwrite the original?

No. You download a new PDF.

Why won’t an encrypted PDF crop?

Unlock it on your computer first. This tab cannot read it.
