Trim scanner edges from a PDF
A feeder that kept a black strip, punch holes, or a centimetre of desk around a phone scan. Start with the scanner-margin preset, drag the box if your feeder is worse, apply to every page. Crop runs here. You download a new file.

When to use this
Use this after a scan that kept the feeder’s black strip, punch holes, or a strip of table around a phone photo. The scanner-margin preset starts about 8 mm in. Drag the box if that is not enough.
Crop changes CropBox and MediaBox so typical viewers hide that area. It is not a forensic wipe. If the overflow is secret, Redact a PDF instead.
Rotate sideways pages first with Fix a sideways scan, and drop empty backs with Remove blank pages before you trim. Stay on Crop PDF if you want a square crop or typed millimetre margins with no scan framing.
How to do it
- Drop the scanned PDF. A preview of the current page is drawn locally.
- Keep the scanner-margin preset, or drag a tighter box on the preview.
- Apply the same crop to all pages, or only a selection.
- Trim and download. Nothing was uploaded.
Tips
- One rectangle for every chosen page. Mixed sizes need a second pass.
- Rotate first so the crop lands on the edge you actually see.
- A determined editor might still recover uncropped content. Redact secrets.

What is the scanner margin preset?
About 8 mm in from each edge, a common ADF leftover. Drag the box if your feeder is worse.
Does trimming a scan upload it?
No. The crop is written in this tab. Close it and the working copy is gone.
