Blank space for printing, on your computer

Add margins to a PDF

No files yet. Drop them above. They stay on your computer.

Add margins puts blank space around each page, or only on the left, so a printer, hole punch, or binder does not clip the words. LoveThisPDF moves the page in this browser. The words stay selectable. The file is not turned into a picture.

Grow the page keeps the text the same size and makes the sheet larger. Keep the page size shrinks the content so the margin fits on the same sheet, which helps when a form must stay A4 or Letter. Narrow is about 6 mm, normal about 13 mm, and wide about 25 mm. Unlock password-protected files on your computer first. The PDF you dropped stays on disk. Close the tab and the working files are gone.

They stay on your computer. Nothing is uploaded.

How to add margins to a PDF

  1. Drop one PDF. It is read in this tab, never uploaded.
  2. Choose a narrow, normal, or wide margin.
  3. Grow the page, or keep the page size. Choose all sides, or the left side only.
  4. Add margins and download. The file you dropped stays on disk.

Add a print margin without uploading

Most “add margins to pdf” sites take the file and process it on a server. This page shifts the pages in JavaScript. There is no account and no queue. If it fails, the file never sat on someone else’s disk.

Need the pages on A4 or Letter instead? Use Resize PDF.

Questions

Can I add margins to a PDF without uploading it?

Yes. LoveThisPDF moves the pages in this tab and writes a new file on your device. Nothing is sent to a server.

Will the text stay selectable?

Yes. The page is shifted or scaled, not saved as a picture. A scan that was already a picture stays a picture.

What is the difference between growing the page and keeping the size?

Grow the page leaves the text the same size and adds blank paper outside it. Keep page size shrinks the content so the margin fits on the original sheet.

Can I add space only for a hole punch?

Yes. Choose Left side only. The other three edges stay as they are.

Will this change my original PDF?

No. You download a new file. The PDF you dropped stays on disk.
