Fill the fields on your computer

Fill a PDF form

No files yet. Drop them above. They stay on your computer.

Fill PDF reads existing AcroForm fields with pdf-lib in your browser: text, checkboxes, radios, and dropdowns. Edit them here, then download. Flatten is on by default so the values cannot be tweaked in a later viewer. Nothing is uploaded. If the file has no fields, this page says so and points you at Sign PDF or Stamp logo.

Scanned paper is not a form. We do not OCR. Password-protected files still need to be unlocked on your computer first. Close the tab and the working copy disappears from the app.

They stay on your computer. Nothing is uploaded.

How to fill a PDF in your browser

  1. Drop one PDF that already has form fields.
  2. Edit the list of fields. Empty PDFs are called out instead of failing silently.
  3. Leave flatten on unless you still need the fields editable.
  4. Fill PDF and download. The original file is not overwritten.

Fill a PDF without uploading

Many “PDF editors” upload the form to fill it. This page never gets the file. It also will not invent fields on a JPEG scan. For that, stamp a signature or a logo.

Questions

Why does this PDF have no fields?

It is probably a scan or a flattened file. Use Sign PDF or Stamp logo. This tool does not OCR.

What does flatten mean?

Field values become page content. They cannot be edited in the downloaded file. Leave it on unless you still need a live form.

Are filled forms uploaded?

No. pdf-lib writes a new file on your device. Close the tab and the working files are gone.

Can I fill XFA or livecycle forms?

Usually not. This page understands typical AcroForm fields. Odd XFA files may show as empty or fail.

Will fill overwrite the original?

No. You download a copy. The file you dropped stays on disk.
